her deepest, darkest confession

We were on our way to Target, and Caroline shared a secret with me.

Caroline: Could we maybe look at the Ponies at Target?

Mama: I think we could check 'em out.

C: The ones with sparkles are pretty cheesy.

M: They are a lot cheesy, I think.

C: I think I have to tell you.

M: Tell me what?

C: I think I really do like cheesy things, Mama.

M: I thought you might.

C: I just really love sparkles. I didn't mean to, but I do.

It made my heart hurt a little bit, too! It's like she's been pretending not to like sparkles all this time because she didn't think she was supposed to...sniff, sniff...

It's significantly less heart-hurty and far from a revelation in real life, promise. The child named her doll "Jewelry" and even asks for "sparkle bagels" (seeds are decorations, don't you know?). She's a hair shy of Liberace.
